IC Info

Name: Dylan Lenivy
Canon: The Quarry
Age: 19
Appearance: picture! One other thing to note: Dylan has a tattoo on his left arm of a wolf that's half realistic and half geometric.
Canon Point: Post Chapter 9, after the attack at the scrapyard. Dylan didn't lose his hand when he was bit earlier and turns into a werewolf here.
Background: Game Synopsis

And to elaborate a little more on Dylan's part in it (and particularly the path I've taken him from) -- at one point during the night, after trying to call 911 from the land line the phone goes dead. Dylan, who acts as the camp DJ and also does morning announcements, suggests they head to the radio hut where they can broadcast a message for help. However, after he and Ryan send their message, it only alerts the men that are seemingly hunting them.

Panicked about these hunters coming for them, Dylan goes to leave only to see a werewolf outside. He quickly slams the door and after Ryan asks him if there's something they can do, Dylan comes up with the idea to create a feedback loop on the speakers. If the creature has sensitive hearing like a dog, it should hurt their ears and maybe chase them off. Ryan tells him to go for it and Dylan sets to work on it -- only to discover the wire had been disconnected. When he goes to fix it, however, the werewolf outside breaks through the roof and bites Dylan's arm. He manages to rip himself away, but begs Ryan to cut off his hand. In this case, Ryan can't bring himself to do it. Dylan leaves with both hands in tact, but also a werewolf infection.

Personality: Most would describe Dylan as laid back and sarcastic but incredibly personable. He's well-liked around camp by the kids and counselors alike. And this is all for good reason. Dylan has put a lot of effort into carefully cultivating a persona other people gravitate toward. The truth of the matter is, while it's not necessarily a facade, it is more of a fake it til you make it sorta thing. Underneath it all, Dylan is scared of rejection. When people seemed to enjoy his jokes, he leaned into it and hid most other aspects of his personality.

When he and Ryan are talking about their futures, Dylan expresses an interest in science and confesses he wants to go into Quantum Physics. This is met by disbelief, but Dylan explains this is what he likes outside of camp. It might not be who he is here, but it's the real him. So while he sometimes comes across like an absolute idiot, he is pretty book smart. But also during their night of terror, Dylan proved to be quite logical as well. Without even knowing what they were dealing with after Nick was bitten, Dylan had the instinct they should amputate to stop the spread of infection. And once again, when he himself got bit, he told Ryan to cut off his hand. Another example is when he came up with the idea to create the feedback loop to chase the werewolf off. He thought maybe the werewolf would have sensitive hearing and he was right.

Although Dylan might care a lot about what people think about him, he's certainly no pushover. He will speak his mind. If Ryan chooses not to let Laura in (a counselor who was scheduled to be at camp but never actually made it due to getting in a mess of her own), Dylan will dismiss him and tell him he's not in charge. He expresses his disdain for plans and easily questions decisions he doesn't quite agree with. He also seems to cope with fear by using humor. Even in a dangerous situation, he can still crack a joke...which is probably for both his benefit and the person with him.

Lastly, though, Dylan has proven to be loyal. Even though he doesn't know his coworkers too well, he is willing to put himself in mortal danger. There are a few instances where he will jump in front of Kaitlyn to take an attack for her. And even in the path I've taken him from, most of the people turning into werewolves will either get aggressive or draw people close in a state of extreme hunger. Right before Dylan turns, he uses his energy to scream for Kaitlyn to get away from him and run -- making sure with the last shred of consciousness to protect her.

Weaknesses/Temptations: Dylan would very much like to go back to being a human with a very human life, so anything that could cure him of his infection might be a temptation. He is also a young adult with a healthy libido that could potentially get him into trouble in a place like this...

Sins:
1.) Envy
2.) Lying
3.) Snooping in people's personal space
4.) Gossiping
5.) Prying into personal business
6.) Underage drinking
7.) Pride
8.) Presenting a facade
9.) Disobeying his boss

Powers/Abilities:

Transformation: Once a month, Dylan will transform into a werewolf. This will be involuntary and once changed, he will lose all sense of self and control. Driven by hunger, anything with a pulse is fair game. In this form, and even slightly before he turns, he will have enhanced scent, sight and hearing. As a wolf creature he's much stronger and faster -- his shape is still humanoid but altered to allow for him to easily run on all fours. Teeth will sharpen and the bite force is strong enough to sever limbs. There will be a few warning signs his transformation is close. Dylan will start to feel feverish and look unwell. His eyes will turn yellow in the final moments, giving him little time left in lucidity before a massive blood explosion will unleash the beast underneath his skin.

Regeneration/Healing: The infection gives Dylan enhanced healing. Wounds will repair themselves quickly and he can even regenerate severed limbs. When in his werewolf form, this will be amplified tenfold -- allowing him to take massive damage and as long as it's not with silver, he can heal almost immediately.

Infected: When Dylan is either on the cusp of transformation or fully transformed, if he bites someone they will be infected as well. If they either kill him or he dies by some other means, they will be cured. They can also take extreme measures and cut off the limb he bit to prevent the infection from taking root. This, of course, might not work the same way in Penance with people either being resistant to it or the environment itself blocking the curse -- but it will always be something I discuss with players beforehand.

Weaknesses: Silver is an extreme weakness for werewolves. I already mentioned just getting shot by a silver bullet will be enough to kill them no matter where it lands, but a silver knife can do the trick as well. Any silver object will burn them, and while it's not clear whether this happens the same way when the moon isn't full, I'm choosing to say it's a weakness as long as he's infected.

Werewolves in The Quarry also seem to hate water. Whenever they've been submerged, they react very similar to how a cat reacts to the bath. It's not entirely clear whether this burns them or not, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it does. I'm also going to take liberties and say it's only being submerged in water that causes them to react this way since toward the latter part of the game, the werewolves seem to be out in the rain with little issue. Again, it's not very clear whether this is an all the time thing or just a full moon thing, so I'll say all the time BUT Dylan's still able to shower, haha.

Items: an iPod full of music, wireless earbuds, his nearly dead phone, and three outfits.
